Castlehamilton,which is located beside Killykeen National Park, is recognised as one of the most beautiful locations in Ireland and offers fishermen and those with a love of nature a scenic and peaceful environment in which to indulge their love of the great outdoors. Killeshandra  is a fishermans’ paradise surrounded by unspoilt countryside of over 400 lakes and rivers. Castlehamilton has 2 private lakes for your use during your stay and the Estate is surrounded by many lakes and rivers which flow into the waters of Lough Oughter, which is the largest inland water system in Europe.  The area offers excellent angling opportunities for the coarse angler and fly fishing.  It is the ideal location for a pike, trout and coarse fishing holiday.  Species available include pike, perch, bream, roach, rudd, tench, and eels.  There are many fine game angling river stretches and wild brown trout filled rivers.

Boat and hire can be organised for you and your group if this is more convenient.  We can accommodate groups of up to 30 and there is the option of self catering, Bed and Breakfast, Half Board and Full Board.  Our games room, equipped with Pool Table, Table Tennis and Football game is available for your group to meet and enjoy the time after a hard days fishing.

Pike Fishing

The numerous loughs in easy reach of Castlehamilton are famous for providing excellent Pike fishing. Many pike over a metre (20 lbs. – 10 Kilos) are regularly caught here annually and fish over 14 Kilos – 30 lbs. (circa 1.15 metre) are recorded annually. All modern pike methods will work on these waters including lure and jerk bait fishing, deadbait fishing and fly fishing. Many of the nearby loughs are interconnected by the Castle River with the famous Lough Oughter system. Visiting anglers regularly fish one of many boats from Castlehamilton to navigate and fish starting from the Town Lough (just outside the gate in Killeshandra) right through some small lough and joins up with the River Erne at Killykeen.  We also offer fishing on the Lough Gowna and the Garadice systems Read More >>>



Trout Fishing


With a multitude of rivers and lakes available, Castlehamilton is the ideal location for the Trout fishing enthusiast. Whilst staying with us there is excellent trout fishing available on the nearby Annalee River which is a tributary of the River Erne. There are also a number of stocked trout lakes in the local region. Permits and guiding are available during the season which runs from the 1st of March to the 30th of September. Less than 40 minutes away is the finest wild brown trout fishery in Europe, Lough Sheelin. Permits, boats and guiding can be prearranged at Castlehamilton to enable you to try to catch the fine wild trout which are abundant. There is great fly life including great annual mayfly hatches which brings superb trout fishing around the May June period. Coarse Fishing


Coarse Fishing for big bags of Roach, Bream and Tench are available in the loughs at Castlehamilton but the vast numerous loughs in easy reach are superb coarse fisheries. The Angling guide will happily pre bait some good swims prior to your arrival. Maggots, worms and a wide range of groundbait are available at the tackle shop in Killeshandra and bait fridges are available for use in Castlehamilton. Regular competitions (matches) and annual festivals are held on the loughs in the nearby area. Belly Boat Fishing


A float tube, also known as a belly boat or kick boat, are available to anglers at Castlehamilton Estate to fish from. Float tubes can be used for many aspects of fishing, such as fly-fishing for Pike and Trout or lure fishing for Pike, and enables the angler to fish areas otherwise not accessible from the bank. We will provide you with chest waders and flippers to paddle across the water then remain still over the chosen fishing ground.
